Built to mow the distance
When you use a mower, you put can put thousands of miles on it without even realizing. That’s why Gravely makes commercial mowers that are built to go the distance, season after season. Teaming up with Cramer-Krasselt, we created a spot for Gravely’s commercial lawnmower, combining live action, stock footage and CGI to show the Gravely mower going the distance.

To make sure we were hitting the mark with our live-action plates, a large part of this project was the pre-production phase – creating detailed storyboards, style frames, and an animatic for the full spot to visualize the look and feel of the final product.

Building the world of this spot required live action plates of our hero lawnmower, shot with a careful eye for how these shots would fit in with the stock footage we were utilizing. We oversaw this production with that in mind – filming in a way to make the final compositing a breeze! This footage was filmed at a grass farm in Florida, where we had plenty of greenery to mow.
POST PRODUCTION | RETOUCH
Working with live action footage throughout, this spot required a great deal of compositing to seamlessly integrate elements – this involved replacing roadways with grass, adding brush and other details to the side of the road, building our hero lawn mower into the shot, and digitally adding camera movements to the stock footage. We edited this spot into a main :30 deliverable, as well as a number of print images.
