Junior 3D Artist – Automotive

JOB ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to: CG Automotive Supervisor
As a Junior 3D Artist (Automotive), you will be responsible for facilitating the efficient delivery of multiple print and animation projects. You will take a hands-on approach to creative and technical aspects of a project, in either a Generalist or Artistic role. As a core automotive team member, you will be required to work as part of a team to ensure that quality standards and deadlines are met.
The main aspects of the role include:
• Overseeing CAD Preparation on various projects within the studio and working with the Technical team to pipeline and streamline the process.
• Assisting the Automotive team with production of CGI for print and animation - including modelling, texturing, shading and lighting and rendering. Ability to respond and interpret client feedback.
• You will work with the Studio Technical Director to help to hone and develop processes and structures to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.
• Good communication and team collaboration are important skills as well the ability to make considered judgments when working under pressure is necessary.
• Taylor James will develop plans for learning and enhancing your skills as a 3D artist. You will be supported and asked for your feedback into this process.
• You will Take part in CGI Review sessions to gain awareness of the whole studio portfolio.
Day to day tasks and duties
• Modelling of hard and organic surfaces, hi-res and lo-res, plus Sub-D modelling and processing CAD data.
• Shader creation, lighting and texturing, UV generations on hard surfaces and organic assets.
• Using our in-house tools and systems on projects and giving feedback on potential workflow improvements to the Studio Technical Director.
• Maintaining a high standard of quality and constantly pushing for improvements, bearing in mind the creative and aesthetic needs of the client and the time constraints of the project.
• Maintain awareness of technical developments in the industry and seek to continually improve personal skills and techniques.
• You will be able to work on other creative projects and briefs according to demand/availability. These could range between product pitches as well as full projects.
• Shader creation, lighting and texturing, UV generations on hard surfaces and organic assets
• Production rendering and texturing to the highest possible standard and detail.
• Work with the Retouch and Automotive department to hone workflow and support their needs, as well as the CGI and Compositing department.
