PURINA
Who’d have thought it was so hard to get a dog and cat to stand next to each other and turn around at the same time? Well, we sure didn’t but this spot for Purina taught us a lot about onset animals! We created a beautiful mix of live action and fully CG worlds to show how farm to table Purina’s new line of pet foods were.
PRE PRODUCTION ︱PREVIS
PRE PRODUCTION ︱ concept art
Plan twice, shoot once! (We made that up but it’s a great moto to live by!). Highly detailed storyboards, previs animations, and design decks that could be reference on set where created before the shoot. We had agency and client buy in on all the content before setting foot on the location to fire off our first frames.
SHOOT PRODUCTION ︱BEHIND THE SCENE
We had an amazing turn of luck as a large rain deluge a few days before the shoot turned a very arid landscape into a beautifully luscious green vista! Our Taylor James director, Jason Guerrero worked closely with our very talented DOP to capture the most beautiful lighting on set. They worked closely to create a great color grade on set to show the clients exactly what the final spot could look like. Our VFX supervisor captured lighting, tracking information and imagery of the child’s hand to ensure the orb integration looked perfect. Alongside the broadcast spot we also did a photography shoot of our hero child actress for print deliverables which drove efficiency and created a truly integrated cross platform campaign.
POST PRODUCTION | CGI
Live action integration was a huge part of our post production challenge on this project. We had to integrate the CG tree, orbs and cityscape within the ball to ensure we attained a high level of realism which would synergize with the rest of the spot which had been shot in camera. Paying careful attention to the lighting in the live action plates, as well as bringing small details such as the fluttering leaves, the particle simulations within the orb and the construction of the city helped bring the spot to life.
