HP Reverb G2 VR Headset
For the launch of HP’s Reverb G2 virtual reality headset, we collaborated with Giant Spoon to create an exciting teaser trailer. The film focuses on the key features of the product and the benefits that this newer version, developed in collaboration with Microsoft and Valve, would bring to the user experience. Time was certainly of the essence on this production as we needed to bring the entire piece to life in just 2 ½ weeks! The film generated significant interest upon launch, with over 10,000 views within its first 24 hours and over 80,000 to date.

Following receipt of the CAD model from HP, we immediately moved into creating a 3d pre-vis/animatic to explore how to tell the product story. We took inspiration from the design language of our previous work with Z by HP and further developed it to give this campaign its own unique look and feel.
Utilizing the provided script that called out the main product features to showcase, we looked at how to use dynamic angles, close ups, interesting camera moves as well as product builds to craft a more engaging film. This range of shots allowed us to demonstrate all the new technologies in this headset, whilst exciting the audience about the product’s launch.

We used graphical overlays to highlight certain non-visible features, such as sound waves, as well as to reinforce other key product benefits like the adjustable IPD. The dark and moody background with hints of directional lighting as well as the blueish color grading, are all intended to help the product stand out as the hero of piece as well as reinforce the premium nature of this new model in this highly competitive market.
ADDITIONAL FILM
Following delivery of the first film, we then created another version for the premium Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition. This headset incorporates additional biometric monitors that will allow software and app developers insights to take their VR experiences to the next level.
This film uses a camera flyaround within the headset to showcase these additional sensors, before showcasing how this version’s fit can be better tailored to each user as well as a new sequence showcasing the superior quality of the Valve designed lenses.
